TEQ Story:

Around 1936, three years after (Toyota founder) Sakichi Toyoda began making automobiles, he decided to hold a contest to search for a new logo design. The winning design that was chosen, was actually based on the Katakana lettering for Toyoda. He soon realized that when writing “Toyoda,” it would take ten strokes of the pen to write the characters. So he decided to change the “da” ending to a “ta” ending. This would allow the characters to be written in only 8 strokes. In Japanese culture, the number 8 is regarded as a symbol for good luck, and even the character for 8 represents the suggestion of further growth. So, Toyoda became Toyota!

The Design:

Because Toyota is such a big part of the Off-road scene today, we decided to pay homage to Sakichi Toyoda and create a simple off-road version of the TEQ. Today, Toyota can be seen in every off-road aspect with its line up of Land Cruisers, 4Runners, the Tacoma, Tundra, FJ Cruiser, RAv4, Lexus GX, and LX platforms. Leaving us with one of their popular slogans, “Today, Tomorrow, Toyota!”

Shirt Colors:

Kuro - (Black)

Crimson - Derives from the Crimson Red Disk on Japan’s flag.

Pacific - Derives from the Blue Pacific Ocean

Ash - Derives from the Grey Ashes found on Mount Aso in Japan.
